The Derry Recreation Timberwolves currently consists of approximately 30 Special Olympics athletes ranging in age from 21 to 60 years. Our athletes train nine months of the year in various sports including basketball,
bowling, cross country, skiing, snow-shoeing, track and field, bocce ball, and aquatics. Various state and regional competitions are held through the state of New Hampshire including State Winter Games at Waterville Valley, State Summer Games at UNH, and the State Basketball Tournament in Porstmouth.
Practices are generally held on Wednesday afternoons and Friday evenings at various sites including Veterans Hall gymnasium, Alexander Carr Park, and the Nashua YMCA.
The Timberwolves rely heavily on generous benfactors and fundraising to help raise money needed for uniforms, equipment, meals, lodging, and other opportunities. One of the largest fundraisers for the Timberwolves is the Penguin Plunge in February. Thank you to all who help make these opportunities a reality!
